Museum Mission
|
The mission of The New York City Police Museum (NYCPM) is to
preserve the rich and unique history of the New York City Police
Department and the extensive collections of materials relating
to its 160-year history.
The Museum accomplishes its mission in a variety of ways:
- Through its family programs and events for New York City
school children from the City's five boroughs, the Museum acts
as an educational resource.
- Through its collections, exhibits and community outreach programs
including public lecture series, internship and volunteer programs,
and senior citizen activities, the Museum plays an important role
in facilitating communications between the NYPD and the communities
it serves.
- As the Museum researches, documents and disseminates information
about the NYPD, it serves as an important historical and informational
resource utilized by a variety of local, national and international
constituencies.
In our activities, the Museum strives to honor all men and women
who have served in the most prestigious Police Department in the
world, the NYPD, and the special place they occupy in New York
City's history.
